CAN, JNI endorse Nasarawa state LAPA policy document

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jaamatu Nasril Islam (JNI) Nasarawa State Chapter endorsed and gave blessings to the State’s Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) policy document during EcoSusNet’s (Ecosystem Sustainability Network) visit to their office locations in Lafia.
Presenting the LAPA document to the officials, Tashi Manasseh, EcoSusNet’s project officer, stated that the document was developed to address the peculiar impact of climate change in Nasarawa State through tailored, local strategies designed to enhance resilience and promote sustainable development.

He also said that the LAPA document outlines a set of adaptation actions focused on the state priority sectors, including agriculture, water resources, infrastructure, health, and natural resources management.
Tashi added that the key objectives of the LAPA are to reduce the vulnerability of the Nasarawa local communities to climate risks, improve their adaptive capacities, and ensure long-term environmental sustainability.
Responding to the presentation, CAN Chairman, V. Rev. Dr. Sunday Emmah, who was represented by the Assistant General Secretary, Pastor Femi Momoh, gave assurance of the unwavering and continual support of the Christian community in Nasarawa State to tackle climate change crises in the state and beyond.
“On behalf of the CAN Nasarawa State leadership, we welcome this document, and we pray that God almighty will bless the document and make it serve all purposes for which it was designed and intended,” said Pastor Femi.

Similarly, the Chairman JNI Nasarawa State – HRH Justice Sidi Bage, who was ably represented by Alh. Aliyu Musa Shaibu stated that the JNI community accepted the document.
“JNI is giving full endorsement of the document to be used for the purpose which it is created for,” Alh. Aliyu said.
“On behalf of the JNI Nasarawa State, we commend the youth groups that contributed to this document for the development of our state; may the almighty Allah bless you,” he added.
Appreciating the stakeholders on behalf of EcoSusNet, Building Blocks for Peace Foundation We are Special Foundation, as well as her funding partners, Nigeria Youth SDGs and German Missions in Nigeria, Mr. Aya’olo Baba stated that “we are grateful for extending the hands of partnership to us.”
“We appreciate your contributions and observations during the co-creation process of the LAPA document,” he concluded.
