EcoSusNet pays a Courtesy Visit to The Divisional Headquarters Of Nigerian Police Force Awe LGA Nasarawa state Nigeria

As part of the activities to mark World Environment Day on 5th June 2024, Ecosystem Sustainability Network (EcoSusNet) paid a courtesy visit to The Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force Awe LGA, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

The visit was aimed at seeking the support of the Nigerian Police Force Awe LGA in amplifying the advocacy against the climate change crisis in the community.

Tashi Manasseh, the project lead, stated that the mission of the visit is to seek collaboration on climate literacy and community engagement through EcoSusNet’s Climate Change Education Programme.

He added that the role of law enforcement agencies in achieving a climate crisis-free community is very essential.

“The Police are saddled with the utmost responsibility of protecting lives and properties. However, our existence and belongings depend on a healthy planet. Without a sustainable environment, there would be no lives or property to safeguard.”

Tashi disclosed EcoSusNet’s readiness to partner with the Police Force and other organisations in achieving its goals of reaching 10,000 students and youths on climate literacy and community engagement across various communities in Nigeria.

In his response, the DPO of The Divisional Headquarters of Nigeria Police Force Awe LGA, represented by Inspector Bulus Butur, stated that the police force was happy to receive the delegation.

The DPO assured the team of their readiness to support the fight against the climate change crisis.

“We will do our very best to give continual support to the EcoSusNet to help amplify the advocacy on achieving a sustainable environment”

Appreciating the EcoSusNet and their partners, he thanked the team for the kind donation of trees to the Divisional Headquarters.

As part of marking the visit, a brief presentation was made by the visiting students followed by a tree planting exercise and group photograph.
