Ecosystem Sustainability Network (EcoSusNet) charged over 500 students to be sustainable heroes in their local communities.

This charge was made recently during the seminar session held in commemoration of World Environment Day, June 5th 2024 themed: “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience” at the ERCC Secondary School in Awe, Nasarawa State.

Speaking at the event, Tashi Manasseh, the project lead admonished the students to embark on sustainable practices that will restore the land from the climate change crisis in their local communities.

He charged them to embark on massive tree planting, avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse, and be friendly to nature, especially animals.

“For us to restore our land and stop desertification and drought, there is a need for attitudinal change in the way we treat our environment,” he said.

“We must plant more trees, save water, and avoid the waste of food and natural resources,” he added.

Tashi disclosed EcoSusNet’s willingness to partner with the education sector to amplify the advocacy of climate literacy.

“It is our vision to reach out to many Nigerian children and youth on climate change education. We are committed to our vision and open to partnership,” he affirmed.

During his presentation, Tashi also thanked the Climate Sustainable Development Network (CSDevNet) for their fund support towards the project.
